MAGALIA — November 2, 2026. Butte County’s Upper Ridge Community Plan project addresses the future of Magalia and Paradise Pines, where the 2018 Camp Fire destroyed 2,158 homes in the planning area.
What the county wants to address
The plan covers land use, affordable housing, recreation, economic development, evacuation routes, wildfire risk and essential services. It treats Magalia’s rural character and recovery needs as distinct from nearby Paradise.
Residents’ ideas matter in a planning process
Butte County says it is working with current and former residents, landowners and businesses to identify priorities. A community vision document is not itself a building permit or guarantee of grant funding.
Where to participate
Property owners should consult the county Planning Division for updated drafts and meeting notices. Fire safety, evacuation readiness and rebuilding infrastructure remain priorities independent of any particular proposed subdivision.
